Rating: - Blade safe is well worth it
The blade safe for the 8" chef knife works well. Good fit & well worth it. The victorinox blade is extremely sharp. If you are storing the knife in a kitchen drawer, you must absolutely have the blade safe to prtect your hands from accidently cutting yourself.

I often travel with my knives to potlucks since I like to be sure I have a good knife for last minute prep. I have both a 10" Victorinox Fibrox chef and an 8" Wusthof Trident Grand Prix chef and they both fit perfectly in this case. The case can be a teensy bit tough to open, but I've found the best way is to put it on a flat surface with the clasps facing away from you and push down with both thumbs to release the clasps. I finally caved in and bought a knife protector for my Victorinox Fibrox 8-Inch Chef's Knife. I wish I had bought it sooner! The knife is kept securely in the case which snaps closed. It is dishwasher safe, which is great. I had originally thought of getting a magnetic knife rack but I live in a rented property so cannot drill holes in the walls so this is a good alternative.

I'm very pleased with these blade protectors. They fit well, look nice, and keep my knives safe. I have one for an 8 inch knife and a 10 inch knife.
